Tony Knowles started on the pole at Dixie Speedway in Woodstock, GA Saturday night, but it was cousin Jody Knowles who took the lead on lap one and would go on to win the Super Late Model Feature event.

While Tony tried to take the top spot back from Jody, another cousin, Jake Knowles, made his way into third place on lap nine, turning the race into a family feud. Jake took advantage of a restart on lap thirteen to get around Tony for second and began to chase down Jody.

The Knowles would stay 1-2-3 until late in the race when Tony began to suffer mechanical issues, allowing former Track Champion Jason Croft to get around him for the third spot. When the Checkers flew, Jody Knowles had held off a hardcharging Jake for the win, with Croft nailing down third. Tony Knowles was able to overcome car trouble to stay in fourth while Doug Stevens raced his way from his 11th place start to break into the top five.

Newnan’s Rucker Orr took his first ever win at Dixie Speedway in the Limited Late Model Feature, as he held off Villanow, GA’s Jeff Smith. The race for the top five was settled at the flag as Mark Bunch grabbed third followed by Jason Smith and Pete Cochran.

Alan Green of Chatsworth survived a post race protest to get his first win at Dixie.  Green made his way through lapped traffic to take the checkers ahead of Austin Green, Darel Owenby, Justin Clements and Tom Watson.

Kirk Atkins got his first win of the 2012 season in the Super Bomber class. Timmy Millwood raced his way into second followed by Roy Patterson, who had spun on lap one and restarted in the rear, but made his way into third. Tim Ford held on to his fourth starting spot to finish in the same spot, followed by Andy Morris to complete the top five.

David Beam outran all challengers in the Economy Bomber feature for his second win of the season. Eric Hamby would follow in second as he held off Dan Meadows, Shane Smith and Cody Czobat to round out the top five.

The Pony Stock feature had Shannon Etheridge of Monroe, GA crossing the line with J.J. Garret right on his tail for his first win of the season. Following in third though fifth was Jeremy Baines, Ronnie Faucett and Matt McCollum.

Lone driver Jimmy Wilson held off all challengers to take the Cruiser feature.

Dixie Speedway returns to action on Saturday, with a full stock car racing program.  Visit dixiespeedway.com for more info.
