With a capacity crowd, over 130 race cars in the pits and sunny skies, Dixie Speedway opened its forty fourth consecutive season of racing Saturday night in Woodstock, GA.
The Super Late Model feature began with pole winner Jake Knowles taking the lead at the green flag, as Tyler Millwood and Luther Jenkins gave chase. The battle would continue the first twenty laps with Millwood grabbing the lead on lap 13, only to lose it back to Knowles the next lap.
Knowles began to fade after lap 20, relinquishing the lead to his cousin Tony Knowles, who would lead the next ten laps en route to the win. Millwood and Jenkins would stay in the top five, finishing second and third respectively. Defending points champion Michael Page raced his way to a fourth place finish, followed by Clint Smith in fifth.
In other action, Cass Fowler used his outside starting position to shoot his way into the lead of the Limited Late Model feature ahead of pole winner Richard Goode on lap one. Fowler never look back on his way to victory lane. Fowler was chased by Scottie Pritchett the entire distance, but Pritchett was forced to settle for second. Also in the chase was Calhoun driver Mark Bunch, who started 12th, and worked his way up to third before running out of laps. He was followed by Chris Fennell and Rucker Orr in fourth and fifth.
The Crate Late Models would see Austin Smith and Mark Page race side by side in the opening laps before Donald McIntosh sailed past both of them to take the lead. After surviving several cautions throughout the race, McIntosh would score the win. Smith would hold on to second, followed by Page. Matthew Turner managed to bring his battle scarred racer home fourth while David Eubanks raced his way around several altercations to finish fifth.
Other support classes ran Championship races during the night, with Daniel Brewer of Avondale Estates in his first ever Super Bomber race taking the top prize. The Economy Bomber feature was taken by David Beam who raced to the lead after starting fourteenth. Jeremy Baines would collect the Pony Stock feature while the team of Joe Trantham and Clay Kreamer would win the Cruiser Class.
