Segars Grabs Win At Hartwell

Saturday night’s temperatures may have been hot, but nothing compared to the scorching Madison County native Stephen Segars gave the 3/8 mile clay oval at Hartwell Speedway in Hartwell, Georgia.

Segars, who qualified on the pole in the Limited Late Model division, spent the first half of the race fighting off the advancements of Jimmy Johnson’s #98.  Johnson would eventually experience some problems which caused him to spin out, sending him to the rear of the field.  That opened the door for Eric Johnson to try his hand at getting around the #114 of Segars. Johnson would run the low side of the track in order to gain momentum on Segars but would eventually run out of laps, giving Segars his first win of the season.

Other notable wins included Joe Teasley, who took home his first career win in the Stock V-8 class. Mitchell Godfrey continued with his winning ways making it four in a row in the Stock Four Cylinder division. Stephen Powell also continued his winning streak in the Front Wheel Drive division, making it four in a row for him as well. Hot shot driver Bryce Alewine took home the win the Young Guns divisions. Monroe, Georgia’s Tyler Brown took home his second win in as many weeks in the Modified Street division, and Frankie Beard found his way back to the Crate Late Model winner’s circle for the fifth time this year.

This coming Saturday, July 9, Hartwell Speedway will be hosting another full race program with seven ground pounding divisions of racing plus we will be hosting our annual Fireworks Extravaganza. It is going to be a great night of family fun so bring the whole family.
