Mobile International Speedway in Irvington, AL is back in action Saturday night after a capacity crowd filled the grandstands to see Mobile’s Cale Gale win the inaugural ARCA-Mobile 200 last weekend.
Saturday night’s lineup will be headlined by the Midwest Cooling Towers Pro-Late Models, racing 95 laps in the 95 KSJ 95, with two-time defending track champion D.J. VanderLey an early favorite.
VanderLey ended the 2011 season on the highest-of-highs and is expecting to carry that momentum into the 2012 season. With his second track title under his belt VanderLey is starting to receive national attention.
“The level of competition has increased dramatically at Mobile over the last five seasons,” VanderLey said. “It’s much more difficult to win races, and the championship, with the talent level where it is right now.
“If you can win at Mobile, you can win just about anywhere.”
