Nick Sellers held on after early race contact to score the Hobby 602 victory on Saturday night at Georgia’s Winder-Barrow Speedway.
The Toccoa, Georgia racer held the lead for most of the feature at the ¼-mile clay raceway, and took the win by a just under a second over Alex Yarbrough.
But that doesn’t mean the win came easily.
Sellers started alongside multi-feature winner Chris Woods on the front row, and the two battled back and forth over the opening lap. Woods held the lead on lap one, but Sellers made a cross-over move to look for the lead again on the next lap.
As the two cars exited turn two, they made contact, sending both out of control Sellers was able to gather his car up, but Woods’ spun out, bringing out the caution
On the restart, Sellers powered away with the lead, while Woods began a charge through the pack. It appeared that Woods has the faster car, but the heavy traffic slowed his momentum.
Sellers crossed under the checkered flag first to take the win, with Yarbrough in second. Woods was able to get back to third by the end, rounding out the podium. Randy Jackson followed in fourth, with Clay Fulcher in fifth.
