Michael Brown and Max Blair came away from Cherokee Speedway in Gaffney, South Carolina with World of Outlaws CASE Late Model Series victories.

Brown was the winner on Friday night, while Blair took the victory on Saturday night at the high banked 3/8-mile dirt track.

On Friday night, Michael Brown muscled under Ryan Gustin to take the lead, and held on to score his first career series victory.

“I’ve always dreamed of doing this,” the Lancaster, South Carolina racer said. “It’s a surreal moment. I got to thank everybody that’s behind me to get me here. It’s awesome and I’m damn sure going to enjoy it.”

After Gustin moved past Max Blair in traffic, Brown saw an opening on the inside where he took the lead in turn 2.

Brown wasn’t challenged again, adding $10,000 to his bank account.

Gustin crossed the line second, with Blair in third, Dennis Erb, Jr. in fourth, and Daulton Wilson in fifth.

On Saturday night, Max Blair rebounded from having Friday’s feature slip through his fingers by leading the final 43 laps to win the Rock Gault Memorial.

A few late-race restarts tested Blair again, as Ross Bailes challenged for the win. Blair aced the final two restarts, keeping Bailes at bay for the $20,000 prize.

“The first (caution) I was actually really happy about because it got you out of lap traffic and into clean air,” Blair said. “I’m very inexperienced in this type of racing, so being in clean air without those lap cars were a big deal.

“The next couple that came out at the end I didn’t want to see. I just can’t believe we just won this race.”

While Blair led most of the race, a break fell his way on lap 18 while running second to reigning Series champion Brandon Sheppard, who spun after contact while trying to pass Brent Larson in turn 4.

“I think (Sheppard) probably had us covered there,” Blair said. “We had some good fortune on our side there. I hate it for them guys.”

Ross Bailes, Daulton Wilson, Hudson O’Neal, and Cla Knight rounded out the top five.
