Ruel, Jr., McCarl Take USCS Sprints Wins At Needmore

Mark Ruel, Jr. and Terry McCarl scored Peach State victories for the USCS Sprint Car Series over the weekend.

Both drivers visited victory lane at Needmore Speedway in Norman Park, Georgia during the two day USCS Georgia Sprint Car Winter Nationals at the 3/8-mile dirt oval.

On Friday night, Ruel, Jr. topped a 26-car field to record the victory. The Jacksonville, Florida native jumped to the lead form the drop of the green flag, and then survived restarts after three cautions and two red flags to hold off Dylan Westbrook for the win.

Terry McCarl followed in third, with Danny Smith in fourth, and Garet Williamson in fifth.

Hafertepe, Jr., Mark Smith, and McCarl won their respective heat races, while Ruel, Jr. won the speed dash.

On Saturday night, Terry McCarl held off David Franek to take the victory. Garet Williamson followed in third, with Brendan Mullen in fourth, and Chris Martin in fifth.

Martin, Williamson and Jacob Dykstra won their respective heat races, with Mullen taking the speed dash victory.
