Marlar And McIntosh Split Fall Nationals Series Openers

Mike Marlar and Donald McIntosh opened up the 2020 Schaeffer’s Oil Fall Nationals Series over the Labor Day holiday weekend with victories in the Volunteer State.

Marlar scored the win on Saturday night at Smoky Mountain Speedway in Maryville, Tennessee, while McIntosh recorded the victory on Sunday night at Tennessee’s Tazewell Speedway.

On Saturday night, Marlar started the feature on the outside of the front row, then overtook leader Vic Hill on lap 28.

From there, the Winfield, Tennessee native led the final 12 laps en route to his first career series win and a $5,000 payday.

Austin Kirkpatrick finished in second, with Dale McDowell in third, Hill in fourth and David Payne in fifth.

On Sunday, Donald McIntosh started the night with fastest overall lap in qualifying with a tiem of 11.653 seconds around the 1/3-mile Tazewell Speedway.

The Dawsonville, Georgia speedster then led all 44 laps of the race to record his third career series victory and net the $4,400 winner’s paycheck.

Ryan King, Dakotah Knuckles, Aaron Guinn, and Pierce McCarter rounded out the top five.

Next up for the Schaeffer’s Oil Fall Nationals Series is a trip to North Georgia Speedway in Chatsworth, Georgia on September 19 for a $10,000 to win feature.
