Pritchett Powers To Hartwell Crate Late Model Victory

It looked like Cody Pritchett was going to go home with a $500 bonus in his pocket on Saturday night.

While he scored the win in the Crate Late Model feature at Georgia’s Hartwell Speedway, circumstances beyond his control kept him from collecting the bounty on Adam Partain’s head.

Pritchett, who hails from Carnesville, Georgia, jumped to the early lead in the 20-lap feature, and worked to hold off Danny Sanders to score the victory.

Partain came into the night with a $500 bounty on his head after winning the majority of the races held in the division this season. Partain was running in the top five when something broke on his car around the halfway mark, sending him to the pits for the remainder of the feature.

With the bounty rules stating that the driver with the bounty on their head has to be running at the end of the feature, Pritchett was denied the chance to collect the bonus money.

But he will have a shot at it – and then some – again on Saturday night as the bounty has grown to $1,500.

Sanders finished in second, with Blake Craft in third, Nick Dietz in fourth and Dale Timms in fifth.

In other action, Mason Tucker edged out Drew Cole to score the Limited Late Model feature victory. Jimmy Ivester finished in third, followed by Scotty Chatham in fourth and Grant Jordan in fifth.

Shane Yarbrough drove to the win in the Hobby feature, with Alex Yarbrough in second, Rusty Jordan in third, Wayne Scott in fourth and Jamie Ivester in fifth.

Tracy Pannell came home with the Modified Street feature victory. Cal Moon, Thomas Segars, Ty Nalley and Joe Nash rounded out the top five.

It looked like Tyler Kennedy might have his first Stock V8 feature in hand. But after leading for 11 laps, a slip with four to go allowed Evan Brown to make the pass for the lead. From there, Brown when on to score the win. Dustin Moore followed in second, with Rocky Jones in third, Kennedy in fourth and Ethan Fortson in fifth.

Chris Wilson took the win in the Stock Four feature, with Justin Taylor in second, Elliot Brayboy in third, Dustin Bales in fourth and Tyler Riddle in fifth.

Ryan Baker was the winner in the Young Guns feature. Tanner Nation came home second, with Alyssa Goldsmith in third.

Keith Baker took the win in the Open Wheel Modified feature.

J.J. Sorrow was the winner in the Front Wheel Drive feature, with Alex Powell in second, Joel Powell, Sr. in third and Kalen Holmes in fourth.

Hartwell Speedway is back in action on Saturday, July 6, with racing in all local divisions plus a fireworks display. Visit Hartwell-Speedway.com for more information.
