There was no beating Shun Thomas in Saturday night’s Hobby feature at Georgia’s Hartwell Speedway.

After winning in his heat race, the Westminster, South Carolina driver led wire-to-wire en route to his second feature victory of the season at the 3/8-mile clay raceway.

Thomas’ win came on a special night for Hartwell Speedway, as the track held the 7th annual Pause for the Cause cancer awareness and fundraising night, which saw the raceway raise $5,333.

The only hiccup in Thomas’ night came around the halfway of the feature, when he was slowed as he tried to avoid the lap car of Tyler Woods. That allowed Chase Lampp and Shane Yarbrough to close the gap on the leader.

In the end, it was Thomas edging out Lampp and Yarbrough at the checkered flag. Cody Segars finished in fourth, with Cody Hall in fifth.

In other action, Eric Veal jumped out to the early lead in the Limited/Crate Late Model feature, and went on to hold off Wesley English to score his third feature win of the season. Grant Jordan finished in third, followed by James Cason in fourth and Tim Jones in fifth.

Thomas Segars held off a hard charging Ty Nalley to score the win in the Modified Street feature. Daniel Doster, Sterling Helm and Chase Burdette rounded out the top five.

Jeremy Jones took the victory in the Stock V8 feature, with Evan Brown in second, Tim Corbin in third, Rocky Jones in fourth and Tyler Kennedy in fifth.

Bubba Nation was flagged the winner in the Stock Four feature, with Herb Sizemore in second. But both were disqualified post-race, moving Kevin Kelly to the winner’s circle. Harley Holden moved to second, with Brent Couch third, Dustin Bales fourth and Jacob Rhome fifth.

North West inherited the win in the Front Wheel Drive feature after John Whisnant, who was flagged the winner, was disqualified post-race. Kalen Holmes was second, with Randy Shaw third, Josh Campbell fourth and Justin Sorrow fifth.

Hartwell Speedway will wrap up the 2018 season with Champions Night, slated for Saturday, October 6. For more information, visit Hartwell-Speedway.com.
