Chad Puckett drove to the front of the Limited Late Model field on Saturday night, and held off challenge after challenge from Scott Frady to score the win at Georgia’s Winder-Barrow Speedway.
It didn’t start easy, however, as it took four attempts to get the feature underway. On the first attempt, Frady jumped out to the lead, only to see it negated when by a multi-car crash in turn one, triggered by a spin by Gus Simpson that gathered up Josh Hardegree and Austin Brumbelow.
On the second start attempt, Puckett took the lead, but it went away when the caution flew again before the lap was completed, this time when Shawn Tullis came to a stop on the high side of turn three.
On the third attempt, Frady moved out to the lead, but saw it negated again when several cars tangled off turn two, bringing out another caution flag.
For the fourth start attempt, race officials lined the cars up in single file line. Puckett took the lead on the drop of the green flag, with Frady in second and Rod Roberts in third.
Frady began hounding Puckett for the lead, but couldn’t find a way around him for the lead. Behind them, Roberts and Simpson battled for third, a fight that would continue throughout the feature.
The action was broken up again by a caution flag when Hardegree slowed down the backstretch.
Back under green, the battle between Puckett and Frady resumed, but that fight when Frady slipped coming off the second turn. That allowed Puckett to move away, and from there, he drove away to the victory.
Frady finished in second, with Roberts edging out Simpson for fourth. Austin Brumbelow finished in fifth.
