Tim Nye used a last lap pass to score the Lucas Oil Southern States Midgets Series victory Saturday night at Georgia’s Winder-Barrow Speedway.
After chasing Frank Beck throughout the feature, Nye made the pass for the lead on the final lap as the duo raced off turn two. Nye completed the pass on the backstretch.
But Beck wasn’t done, as he made contact with the back of Nye’s car as the duo raced into turn three, with Beck making one last attempt at a cross over move through turn four.
But Nye was too strong, and held on to score the win. Beck had to settle for second, with Tommy Thompson in third, Scott Anderson in fourth and Otto Scrape in fifth.
Winder, Georgia’s Mike Magic, Bob Jordan, Terry Becker, Josh Wall and Bob Brown rounded out the top ten.
In other action, Ken Lampp scored the Limited Late Model victory. John Anderson finished in second, with Shawn Tullis in third and Brant Carey in fourth.
Dustin Cason was the winner in the Hobby feature, with Chad Stinchcomb in second, Shawn Tullis in third, Andy Barton in fourth and Austin Roberts in fifth.
Ronnie Poole beat out Chris Jones for the Modified Street feature victory. Keith Wright finished third, with Paul Bennett fourth and Aaron Criswell fifth.
In the Stock V8 feature, Mark Chancey too home the win, with Zach Brown, Ronnie Poole, Jeff Casper and Matt Roberts rounding out the top five.
Shane Peppers was the winner in the Stock 4A feature, with Kyle Braswell second, Justin Taylor third, Allen Cantrell fourth and Roger Cothran fifth.
In the Stock 4B feature, Grant Roberts was the winner, followed by Randall Jenkins in second, Elliott Brayboy in third, Adam Jones in fourth and Austin Robinson in fifth.
Winder-Barrow Speedway returns to action on Saturday, August 19, with the track playing host to the National Vintage Racing Association.
