Racing returned to Georgia’s Hartwell Speedway on Friday night, and for Gus Simpson, everything went in the right direction.
The Gainseville, Georgia racer came home with the winner’s trophy in the Limited Late Late Model feature at the 3/8 mile clay raceway.
Brandon Haley had taken the checkered flag first, with Simpson in second. But Haley was disqualified post race, moving Simpson into victory lane.
Deano Long moved to second, with Bubba Russell third, Stephen Segars fourth and Drew Collins fifth.
Chad Puckett, Clayton Turner, Chris Woods, Dustin Mincey and Scott Frady rounded out the top ten finishers.
In other action, Andrew Cole held off Cody Pritchett to take the Crate Late Model feature win. Adam Smith finished in third, with Grant Jordan in fourth and Taylor Puckett in fifth.
Crandall Turner was the winner in the Hobby Stock feature. Cameron Crowe finished second, followed by Shane Yarbrough in third, Cody Segars in fourth and Chris Wilbanks in fifth.
Chris Jones was the winner in the Modified Street feature, followed by Rusty Jordan in second, Justin Sims in third, Sterling Helm in fourth and Jennifer Everett in fifth.
Jeremy Jones took the victory in the Stock V8 feature, with Shannon Duck second, Jack Hill third, Rocky Jones fourth and Cal Moon fifth.
Kevin Kelly took top honors in the Stock Four feature, with Ryan Boles, Jeff Dobbs, Kenny Dobbs and Justin Taylor rounding out the top five.
Jordan Brown was the winner in the Rookie feature. Tommy Kerr finished in second, with Daniel Booth in third, Preston Kelly in fourth and Jacob Kelly in fifth.
Joey Powell, Jr. scored the victory in the Up Front feature. Cody Henry ran second, with Kalen Holmes in third.
