Shane Clanton ran flag-to-flag Saturday night at Georgia’s Senoia Raceway to claim the $10,000 top prize at the inaugural running of the Showdown at Senoia.
Clanton jumped in front of pole sitter Jimmy Owens in the Southern Nationals Bonus Series Super Late Model feature and then held off a late race challenge from Michael Page.
“It’s always good to win. It’s even better to win close to home,” said Clanton.
Clanton, who hails from Zebulon, Georgia, used the high line to sneak past Owens, then worked his way down to the lower grove through the middle part of the 60-lap feature.
Page emerged as his strongest contender near the halfway mark, as he pressured Clanton through lapped traffic. However Clanton pulled away through the final few laps to claim the victory.
Page settled for second place ahead of Brandon Overton in third. Chase Junghans finished with Owens in fifth.
Scott Bloomquist, David Breazeale, T.J. Reaid, Riley Hickman ninth and Zach Leonhardi rounded out the top ten.
In other action, Micheal Page bettered his finishing position by one victory in the Limited Late Model feature. Page went flag to flag holding off Matt Dooley, with Jody Knowles in third, Trey Wood in fourth and Kyle Courtney in fifth.
Riley Hickman dominated the Crate Late Model feature race to take the win ahead of Clint Smith. Jake Knowles finished in third, with Tom Maddox in fourth and Craig Scott in fifth.
Clint Smith scored the win in the B Cadet main event. Smith bolted to the lead over Michael Page and never looked back posting the victory. Page ran second, with Jody Knowles in third, Bobby Arnold in fourth and Billy Stevenson in fifth.
James Swanger was the winner in the Hobby Stock feature, with Dalton Poston in second, Joe Hillman in third, Ryan Ray in fourth and Blake Harmon in fifth.
Tony Coffman inherited the lead in the Mini-Stock feature after Dan Bennett and Todd Brewster tangled while racing for the top spot. Coffman went on to take the win, with Brannon Knight, Mike Younginer, David Singleton and J.J. Garrett.
JR Hardy was the winner in the Bomber event. Michael Nelms finished in second, followed by Tim Harmon in third, Chris Arnett in fourth and William Blair in fifth.
