Josh Berry took the lead for the final time with just under 60 laps to go in Saturday night’s 200 lap Fall Brawl for Bojangles Late Models at Hickory Motory Speedway in Newton, North Carolina.
Berry started from the pole with Austin McDaniel to his outside, while Dexter Canipe and Christian Eckes made up the second row. On the drop of the green, McDaniel moved out front to set the early pace, while Eckes moved to the second spot. McDaniel would continue to lead to the halfway break.
Back under green, McDaniel and Eckes fought side-by-side for several laps for the lead. Eckes would finally make the high line to work to his advantage and move past McDaniel. A few laps later Berry would also make his move around McDaniel and keep Eckes within striking distance. With 60 laps to go, Berry made a bid for the lead and on lap 142, he made the move to take the lead.
Berry would go on to score the win, with Eckes in second, McDaniel in third, Jeremy Burns in fourth and Evan Swilling in fifth.
In earlier action, Eddie Gilbert scored the win in the Classic Sportsman Racing Association feature, with Bill Webb in second, Bill Powell in third, Dennis Hinkle in fourth and Rob Lewis in fifth.
Andy Loden took the win in the Limited Late Model feature, followed by Ryan Vasconcellos in second, Dawson Cram in third, Jeremy Pelfrey in fourth and Matt Thomas in fifth.
Allen Huffman took the victory in the Super Truck feature. Joey Shuryan, Jason Cochran, Clint Fields and Sheflon Clay rounded out the top five.
