T.J. Reaid made his transition from asphalt to dirt complete Saturday night, as the Acworth, GA speedster scored the Super Late Model feature during Dixie Speedway’s Spring Championships in Woodstock, GA.

It took two tries to start the feature and both times Tyler Millwood jumped out front ahead of pole sitter Reaid. Before Millwood could get credit for leading a lap, his car suddenly slowed coming out of turn two, causing everyone behind him to take evasive action. Everyone was able to avoid him, and Reaid took the lead.

Reaid would pace the event until the caution flew on lap 30 for debris. On the restart, Reaid would retake the top spot while drivers behind him jockeyed for position. The caution flew again a few laps later, when Don Jenkins rolled to a stop.

As the laps wound down, Reaid continued to lead while behind him, Jake Knowles worked his way into contention. After moving through the field to take third, Knowles began pressuring Dylan Ames for the second position, takeing the spot a few laps later.

Ames would retake the position one lap later. Knowles get together with Ames in turn two, causing both drivers to check up. That allowed Dale Thurman to bypass both of them and take the second position. Ames would recover to hang on to the third position, while Knowles fell back to sixth.

Up front, Reaid moved away to score his first Super Late Model win at Dixie, while Ames made it around Thurman to finish second. David Payne came home in fourth with Casey Roberts in fifth.

Knowles, Jason Croft, Luther Jenkins, Brent Dixon and Cody King rounded out the top ten.

In other action, Austin Smith passed Chris Fennell on lap 13, and went on to score his first win in the Steel Head Late Model Championship race. Fennell held on the second trailed by Jimmy Thomas in third, Oliver Gentry in fourth and father Jason Smith in fifth.

Jeff Smith took the win in the Crate Late Model feature by a full straightaway over Tom Maddox in second. Matt Black finished in third, with Adam Smith fourth and Jake Jones fifth.

Cass Fowler led the way in the Super Bomber Feature as the Brewer family raced each other for second thru fourth. Father Alan Brewer finished in second holding off youngest son Daniel Brewer in third. Gary Hardin finished fourth with Donny Thurman in fifth.

Kyle Beavers led the way in the caution filled Economy Bomber feature for his first win of the season. Dan Meadows, James Gagnon, Eric Hamby and Taylor Cole rounded out the top five.

Dixie Speedway’s new Stinger division made it debut with double features due to not being able to race on March 12 due to curfew. It was Shane Gooden going into the history books as the first ever winner of the new class. Former Cruiser driver Brian Dempsey followed in second, trailed by Brian Sutton in third, Tyler Dilbeck in fourth and Melissa Dempsey in fifth.

Jimmy Wilson won the division’s Championship feature, with Brian Dempsey in second. Brian Cosier followed in third with Nick May fourth and Cody Sisson fifth.

The next event at Dixie Speedway is scheduled for May 7, which will begin weekly points racing for the 2016 season. For more information, visit DixieSpeedway.com.
