With the southeast slammed by wet weather caused by Hurricane Joaquin, several major racing touring series were lucky enough to get their weekend events in.
Those included NASCAR’s Sprint Cup and Xfinity Series at Dover International Speedway, the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series at Maple Grove Raceway and the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship at Road Atlanta.
Other series and tracks, however, were not so fortunate, as they saw events postponed or cancelled as available dates dwindle late in the year.
One of the biggest race events to be lost due to the weather this weekend was the All-American 400 asphalt Pro Late Model race at Fairgrounds Speedway Nashville in Nashville, TN. The race, which was slated for Sunday, has been rescheduled to Oct. 18.
Another major asphalt Late Model event that was pushed back was the ValleyStar Credit Union 300 for Late Model Stocks at Martinsville Speedway in Martinsville, VA. After the governor declared a state of emergency, the event was postponed until Sunday, Oct. 11.
Dixie Speedway in Woodstock, GA and Rome Speedway in Rome, GA were slated to end their racing seasons over the weekend with visits from the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series at Dixie on Saturday and Rome on Sunday. Unfortunately, both were washed out, and will not be made up.
The NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour was slated to compete at Hickory Motor Speedway in Newton, NC. The rains led NASCAR and track officials to cancel the race. It will not be rescheduled.

Toccoa Raceway in Toccoa, GA made the decision to cancel Saturday’s racing activities earlier in the week after studying the forecast for the weekend. The event will not be rescheduled.
Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL was set to play host to the Chevy Super Series for the Dega 100, but persistent showers pushed the event back to Nov. 14.
The Southern Nationals Bonus Dirt Late Model Series was scheduled to compete in the 12th annual Tarheel 50 at Tri-County Race Track in Brasstown, NC, but the weather saw that event postponed until Oct. 28.
The USCS Sprint Car Series had expected to compete at Carolina Speedway in Gastonia, NC, but the wet weather led officials to postpone the event to Oct. 30-31.
