Ronnie Johnson found the most appropriate way to celebrate the 46th anniversary of the historic Dixie Speedway in Woodstock, GA on Saturday.

Johnson, a member of the National Dirt Late Model Hall of Fame, drove to his first Dixie Speedway victory in 21 years, as he beat out second generation racer T.J. Reaid for the victory on the 3/8 mile clay raceway.

Reaid of Acworth began the evening by claiming fast time in qualifying and starting on the pole position after spinning a zero on the invert wheel. Reaid took the lead at the drop of the green flag and set a quick pace as drivers behind shuffled for position.

Meanwhile, Johnson steadily threaded his way up through the field to take second and began reeling in Reaid. Johnson caught Reaid with just over ten laps to go and made the pass on the outside to take the lead.

From there, Johnson would move away to score the victory, his first at Dixie since 1994. Reaid, who has been consistently running up front in his rookie year, settled for second, with Dale Thurman in third. Jody Knowles finished in fourth, while Jacob Grizzle came home in fifth.

Johnson’s win also makes him the ninth different Super Late Model winner in as many races this season.

In other action, Don Jenkins made his way to victory lane in the Steel Head Late Model feature for the third week in row with Brian Jackson in second, Alan Brewer third, Chuck Padgett fourth and Chris Sizemore fifth.

Zach Pilcher has been consistently placing top five finishes in the Crate Late Model and Saturday night, he finally brought home his first win. Pilcher fought a side by side battle with leader Jason Deal until Deal tangled with a lapped car. That contact forced him to the pits for repairs. Adam Smith finished in second, with Shane Smith in third, Hunter Jones in fourth and John Williams in fifth.

Daniel Brewer found his way to victory lane for the second week in a row in the Super Bombers as he lead Andy Morris, Richard Goode, Willie Winsome, and Justin Begley to the checkred flag.

It took a few laps, but Landon Bagby made his way to the front of the Economy Bomber feature to get his second win of the season. Austin Smith and Kyle Beavers staged a race for second with Beavers taking the position at the finish line. Eric Hamby finished fourth, with Bryne Duren in fifth.

In the Pony Stock feature, Jamie Cross made the trip from Hayesville, NC well worth his while by taking his seventh win of the season, and his fifth in row. Ronnie Faucett finished in second, with Jason Berrong in third, Jason Matthews in fourth and David Kirkland in fifth.

Jimmy Wilson took his third win in a row in the Cruiser feature. Crossing the line behind Wilson were Randy Ledford, George Wilson and Stephen Smith.

Dixie Speedway is back in action on Saturday, June 6 for the Bill Ingram Memorial, with the Super Late Model feature being run in honor of the late Georgia Racing Hall of Fame driver, along with a full race program.
