For years, Dacula, GA’s Russell Fleeman has been a force to be reckoned with on asphalt short tracks around the southeast.
The veteran wheelman is a two-time Georgia Asphalt Series champion, a Super Six Series champ at the former Lanier National Speedway, and scored the win in the prestigious World Crown 300 at Gresham Motorsports Park in 2008.
On Saturday night, he proved he is just as tough a competitor on dirt, as he powered to the lead of the SECA Late Model feature at Hartwell Speedway in Hartwell, GA, and drove away to the victory.
Fleeman held off Greg Pilgrim for the win, with Grant Jordan in third, Robin Collins in fourth and Bryce Alewine in fifth.
Brandon Haley, Adam Partain, Anna Parkhurst, Cameron Crowe and Nick Dietz rounded out the top ten.
In other action, Dale Timms led the Limited Late Model field across the finish line to score the feature win. Jimmy Johnson finished second, with Ashley Poole in third and Chris Wood in fourth.
Mitchell Godfrey topped the Hobby Stock feature for the win. Shane Yarbrough finished second, with Rod Roberts in third, Chris Page in fourth and Gerald Stanley in fifth.
In the Modified Street feature, Thomas Segars held off Nick Kennedy to score the victory. Evan Brown came home in third, with Aaron McIntosh fourth and Jennifer Everett in fifth.
Dustin Evans was the winner in the Stock V8 feature. Terry Brown was second, with George Fortson third and Eric Dove fourth.
Jeffery Lord was first to cross under the checkered flag for the Stock Four win. Dustin Bales, Cy Strickland, Brent Couch and Shane Strickland rounded out the top five.
C.J. Huitt took the victory in the Up Front feature, with Josh Walls second, Shane Roberts third, Wayne Chapman fourth and Joel Powell, Sr. in fifth.
Hartwell Speedway returns to action on Saturday April 25, with a full race program including the Limited Late Model, Hobby, Modified Street, Stock V8, Stock Four, and Up Front divisions.
