Saturday night Hartwell Speedway in Hartwell, Georgia, honored one of the area’s best dirt track drivers ever, Mr. Aaron Gailey, by hosting the Aaron Gailey Tribute Race. Hartwell Speedway owner Marty Lance presented Mr. Gailey a plaque in recognition of all his hard work and dedication to Hartwell Speedway before the race, and  over ninety drivers of all ages and divisions showed up to the inaugural event, bringing with them the best side by side, fender rubbing action in the south.

Colbert, Georgia’s Kenny Collins took home the big $1,200 check in the Limited Late Model division.  Collins would take the early lead, followed closely by Brandon Haley and David McCoy.  As the laps wore on Collins began to separate himself from the rest of field leaving Haley and McCoy to battle it out for second.

After several intense fender rubbing laps the #27 finally made his way around the #51 of Hailey, and honed in on Collins. In the remaining few laps McCoy ran down the #21C of Collins until he was fender to fender with him in the turns. It all came down to the last turn on the last lap where Collins was able to surge ahead of the #27 and take the checkered flag.

In other action, Chris Cape of Bowman, Georgia scored the victory in the FASTRAK Late Model feature, outrunning previous winner Parker Herring for the win.  Frankie Beard ran third, followed by Grand Jordan and Danny Sanders.

Bowman, Georgia native Rusty Jordan held off a big field of cars for the Modified Street feature win.  Tyler Brown ran second, with Richard Jones, Shawn Mize and Chad Hoopaugh rounded out the top five.
