David McCoy not only scored two wins, he also picked up a $2,000 pay day for his win in the Limited Late Model feature at Hartwell Speedway in Hartwell, GA on Saturday night.
Brandon Haley jumped out to the early lead, with Kenny Collins and David McCoy following. Haley and Collins battled for the top spot, but it was McCoy who made the charge around both of them to take the lead off turn four. A spin by Parker Herring off turn four drew the caution, and bunched the field back up. On the restart, McCoy moved back to the lead, and drove away to score the win, along with the $2,000 bonus for the victory. Collins finished in second, with Haley in third, Jimmy Johnson in fourth, and Clayton Turner in fifth.
McCoy and Adam Smith battled for the lead on the start of the FASTRAK Late Model feature, but a spin by Drew Collins off turn two meant the feature would have a complete restart. McCoy and Smith went at it again on the start, with Smith taking the lead. Grant Jordan moved to second, with McCoy moving back to third. The caution came out again when Drew Cole slowed to a stop in turn four. Smith powered back to the lead on the restart, with McCoy making the move to second around Jordon off turn two. McCoy then worked to track down Smith. He would pressure Smith several times, but could not make it happen. McCoy then found himself under fire from Jordon, but that fight came to an end when Cole went around in turn four, bringing out another caution. Back under green, McCoy was on the charge, looking for a way around Smith. McCoy finally got the run he needed off turn four, and charged away to score the victory. Smith came home in second, with Jordan in third, Dustin Mincey in fourth, and Bryce Alewine in fifth.
The Stock 4 feature rolled off with $2,000 on the line for the winner. J.J. Garrett moved out to the lead on the drop of the green flag, with Brent Couch in second, and Mitchell Godfrey in third. But a multi-car tangle in turns three and four, involving Dustin Bales and Jeffrey Lord, meant there would be a complete restart. On the restart, Garrett again took the lead, with Couch in second and Shane Strickland moving to third. Stickland would make his way up to second over the next few laps, with Godfrey making his way back to third. Kevin Tullis slowed to a stop in turn three, drawing the next caution and bunching the field up again. Garrett would go on to score the victory, picking up the $2,000 winner’s pay day in the process, with Stickland in second, Godfrey in third, Couch in fourth, and Bales in fifth.
The Modified Street feature got off to a bumpy start after Jeremy Jones went around in turn one, setting up a complete restart. When the green flag flew it was Michael Segars jumping out to the lead, with Paul Byrum and Doug Sellers giving chase. Aaron McIntosh would be the center of attention over the next few laps, but not for a good reason, as he spun three times to draw three cautions. In the meantime, Segars saw his night come to an end, as his car suffered a mechanical failure while leading. That moved Byrum to the lead. Meanwhile, Chris Jones moved his way to second, and began challenging Byrum for the lead. He couldn’t make it happen, as Byrum moved away. John Teasley moved up and begins challenging Jones for second, allowing Byrum to build up a lead over the field. That lead goes away when Teasley spun off Jones’ front bumper, drawing another caution. On the restart, Byrum held the lead, and went on to score the win. Chris Jones came home in second, with Jeremy Jones in third, Teasley in fourth, and Aaron McIntosh in fifth.
Doug Moon jumped out to the early lead in the Stock V8 feature, with Colby Thornton and Terry Brown in third. Brown saw his night come to an end one lap later, when he lost a wheel and axel on the front stretch, drawing the first caution of the event. On the restart, Doug Moon retained the lead, with Thornton in second and Jessie Thurmond in third. But it didn’t last long, as Thornton spun in turn three, collecting Thurmond in the process. Doug Moon stayed out front on the restart, with Ricky Chamberlain moving to second and Keith Ross in third. Caution came out again when Chamberlain spun off turn two. Over the closing laps, Cal Moon would move to second and try to challenge for the lead, but came up short, as Doug Moon scored the victory. Cal Moon finished in second, with Ross in third, Chamberlain in fourth, and Thurmond in fifth.
In the Young Guns feature, 15 year old Adam Partain jumped out to the early lead, with Johnathan Chessman and Jeremy Hicks in second and third. The scariest moment of the night unfolded when Chessman and Hicks tangled coming off turn two, turning Chessman head on into the inside guard rail. Chessman made a hard hit, leading track officials to throw the red flag for clean up. Chessman was okay, but his car was completely used up. Up front, it’s all Adam Partain, as he scored the victory. Tucker finished in second, with Still third, Jeremy Hicks finishes in fourth, and Chessman credited with fifth.
Joel Powell jumped out to the early lead in the Up Fronts feature, with Seth Brown in second and Trey Chapman in third. Brown would move to the second spot, and would go on to score the victory. Powell finished in second, with Trey Chapman in third, Wayne Chapman in fourth, and Justin Sorrow in fifth.
