Rusty Jordan fans could be heard from miles around as the Bowman, GA driver took the checkered flag Saturday night during the Modified Street race at Hartwell Speedway in Hartwell, Georgia.

Jordan would begin trip to victory lane by taking the early lead from Chad Hoopaugh, followed closely by the point’s leader Paul Byrum and Tyler Brown. The tension between these three drivers could be felt in the hot summer air. Lap after lap Hoopaugh would close in on the #5 of Jordan just to have Jordan pull ahead along the straightaway’s. Jordan would maintain his ½ car length lead and take the win.

Just behind the leaders Tyler Brown and Paul Byrum were engaged in a battle of their own until finally all the beating and banging finally caught up with the #112 of Byrum causing him to cut a tire and pull into the pits for a change. This would move Brown into third and leave Byrum in the rear of the field trying to work his way back to the front. On the restart Byrum would sustain another flat tire causing him to retire for the night.

Byrum who had been locked in a close points battle with Hoopaugh with only a five point separation not only sustained a flat tire, he also lost the points lead by a mere one point.

With only six points races left it is going to get interesting to see who is going to walk away a champion.
