Ashley Huffman started the night on the pole for the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Bojangles Late Model feature, and ended it in victory lane with the victory Saturday night at Hickory Motor Speedway in Hickory, NC.
At the drop of the green flag, David Garbo would get loose on the backstretch, collecting Josh Wright, and Shane Lee in the accident. Wright and Garbo would move to pit road with heavy damage on their cars. Lee would be able to continue. Matt Piercy would take the early lead, followed closely by Huffman, Austin McDaniel, Jesse LeFevers and Lee.
Huffman would make a move on Piercy and take the lead on lap 10 with LeFevers closing in. Caution would wave on lap 31 for debris on the backstretch. On the restart Huffman would continue to lead and takes the checkered flag, followed by LeFevers, McDaniel, Lee and Piercy.
In other action, the K & P Construction 4-Cylinders started the night’s racing with Matt Elledge leading them to the green flag with Todd Harrington on the outside. On lap six Eddie Gilbert spun in turn two bringing out the caution. Harrington would take the early lead from Elledge. On lap 13, Elledge would take the lead back from Harrington with Randy Freeze moving to third. On lap 22, Freeze inherited third place after Harrington fell back to seventh. Elledge would take the checkered flag, followed by Freeze, Chase Pollard, Gilbert and Nathaniel Kanupp.
Next up were the Paramount KIA Limited Late Models. Justin Bolton led the field to the green flag with his first pole at Hickory. Evan Duggins, Jeremy Pelfrey and Shane Lee raced side by side for several laps while Bolton pulled away from the field. The race would run caution free with Bolton taking his first win at Hickory Motor Speedway. Sheflon Clay was second, with Landon Huffman third, Casey Pierce fourth and Josh Bralley fifth.
Mark Whitten led the Street Stocks to the green flag for the third event of the night with Kevin Eby starting second. The first caution would come out for a spin on the backstretch involving Kevin Townsend. On the restart Eby would lead the field with Jonathon Smith racing hard. Coming to the checkered flag there would be contact between Eby and Smith which would result in both cars spinning to the finish, while Whitten came from third to take his first victory at Hickory. Eby, Smith, Marshall Sutton and Kevin Townsend rounded out the top five.
Clint Fields took the early lead in the Super Truck feature with Kevin Leicht, Matt Leicht and Jeremy Birch battling for position behind him. Fields would get the win, with Kevin Leicht second, Matt Leicht third, Lee Queen fourth and Chase Campbell fifth.
Kenneth Roberts started on the pole for the WrenchRags Renegades race. On lap 10 Shawn Hayes would bring out the first caution by spinning on the front stretch. Roberts would go on the take the win, followed by Carroll McKinney, Greg Austin, Darren Dickinson and Hayes.
