With yet another partial rain out the previous week, Dixie Speedway in Woodstock, GA ran their regular Saturday night show along with the Bill Ingram Memorial and two other features from June 1.
First up was the Bill Ingram Memorial where Ray Cook started on the pole. Cook raced out to the early lead and never looked back. Meanwhile the race behind for the rest of the top five was up for grabs. Dawsonville, GA’s Donald Mcintosh slowly picked off each car ahead, finally taking second at the halfway point but was unable to mount any challenge for Cook. Michael Page had a rare night starting back in 11th. He raced hard to make his way into third before running out of laps. Jake Knowles also worked his way through the field passing Ricky Williams in the closing laps for fourth.
In what will be long remembered as one of the best races in Dixie history, the second Super Late Model feature started with Luther Jenkins taking the lead with the rest of the field looking at his spoiler. With five laps to go Jenkins found himself several times running three wide with Tony Knowles and Frank Ingram with Ray Cook behind them looking for an opening. Jenkins held on to the top spot as Knowles and Ingram not only attempted to pass for the lead but with each also trying to get second. When the white flag flew, a blanket could have covered the top four cars. Coming into the third turn Jenkins still had the lead trying to hold off Knowles on the bottom, when the crowd rose to their feet as Ingram went full throttle out on the high side and passed both drivers coming out of turn four to take the win. Jenkins held off Knowles for second with Cook following in fourth. Jordy Nipper finished in fifth several car lengths behind.
In the highly competitve Limited Late Model feature Scottie Pritchett took his first win of the season followed closely by Cass Fowler. Rucker Orr came across the line in third with Mike McConnell and Jason Williams rounding out the top five.
Two features were run in the Crate Late Model class that would see Mark Page grab the lead in race one and never look back to take his second win of the season. Justin Shipley raced hard to catch the leader but settled for second followeed by Zach Pilcher, Hunter Jones and Jeff Dernehl completing the top five.
Race two was the scheduled Crate Late Model Championship which would see Craig Reece taking his first victory of the year. Zach Pilcher held second at the checkers trailed by Mark Page, Justin Shipley, and Chuck Page.
Kenny Taylor held off Daniel Brewer o get his second win of the season in the Super Bomber feature. Andy Morris made his presence known but had to settle for third with Richard Bagby and Roy Patterson bring up fourth and fifth.
Shane Smith has let evryone know he’s the man to beat in the Economy Bomber Division this year as he took home his fourth win of the season. Rounding out the top five were David Burtz, Cody Czobat, Rob Johnson, and Tate Nichelson.
In the Pony Stocks, Jeremy Millsaps found his way to victory lane for the third time. Matt Smith trailed in second as Matt Smith, Ronnie Faucett, and Charles Whitmire completed the top five.
Two features were run in the Cruiser Division and Todd Lankster took the first race while Jimmy Wilson got the second feature after the apparent winner was disqualified.
