With threatening rain all around Saturday night, Dixie Speedway in Woodstock, GA got their show on the road, running three rain delayed features from April 27 as well one feature delayed due to curfew.
Tyler Millwood picked up where he left off on lap eight of the rain delayed Super Late Model Feature from April. Millwood was never challenged as the rest of the field battled for the top five. When the checkers fell, Michael Page held the second spot followed by Jody Knowles, Luther Jenkins, and Dale Thurman.
The second Super Late Model feature would see visiting World of Outlaw Late Model driver Clint Smith take the seat of the car normally driven by Laddie Fulcher, taking fast time and the feature win. Jason Croft gave chase but settled for second as Donald McIntosh brung his ride home in third. Michael Page and Jody Knowles completed the top five.
The Limited Late Model feature saw long time racer Alan Brewer break into victory lane after finishing in the top five in every race this season but one. Mike McConnell had worked his way through the field to take second with Jason Williams close behind in third. Newcomer Cody Dillinger ran in fourth followed by Chuck Padgett in fifth.
It was double feature night for the Crate Late Models also. In race number one, Doug Ludwig took his first checkered flag at Dixie for the first time since 2007. It wasn’t easy as chasing him all the way was Maddie Crane. Crane settled for second with Zach Pilcher follwing in third. Steve Schofield followed in fourth with George Ervin rounding out the top five.
Feature two in the Crate class started off in a scary moment when a couple of cars made contact and got loose out of turn two causing everyone behind to check up. The resulting mess would see Vernon Smith’s ride drive straight over another racer and go flipping end over end. Smith was unhurt but his night was over.
The restart flew, and once again Doug Ludwig took the lead and sailed on to win number two for the evening. Last weeks winner Hunter Jones raced his way around Maddie Crane for second leaving Crane settling in third. Frank Roger came home in fourth followed by George Ervin once again in fifth.
It was Championship night in both Bomber Divisions and it was Kirk Atkins bringing his Chrysler powered racer across the line first in the Super Bomber race. Roy Patterson followed in second with Timmy Millwood close behind in third. Daniel Brewer and Kenny Taylor completed the top five.
Shane Smith took the Economy Bomber Championship as well as his third win of the season. Following Smith across the line was Cody Czobat, Greg King, Carl Richards, and John Binger.
Shannon Etheridge took the checkers in the Pony Stock feature leading Jamie Cross, Jeremy Millsaps, Jeremy Ray and John Land acros the line.
It was triple features for the Cruiser class and it would see three different winners. Race number one would have George Wilson taking his first victory of the year. Todd Lancaster made his way to victory lane in race number two while Jimmy Wilson took feature three.
