Tracy Hines Takes USAC Bubba Army Winternationals Finale

Tracy Hines held off all challenges to top the field for the second straight night, giving him the win in the finals of the Bubba Army Winter Nationals for the USAC Amsoil National Sprint Cars at Bubba Raceway Park in Ocala, FL.

USAC preliminary events started with qualifying, as Chase Stockon again topped the speed charts with a time of 13.936 at 96.87mph. Stockon would win his heat as would Chris Windom, who had flipped the night before and was using a back-up car. Landon Simon won his first career USAC heat, while Brady Bacon rounded heat race action up with another win. Robert Ballou would win the B Main and Chris Gurley used a Provisional to make the 23-car field.

The feature started with young Tyler Courtney on pole and Hines on the outside. Hines jumped to the early lead over Hunter Schuerenberg and Courtney before a lap 4 caution flew for an incident involving Gurley and Dallas Hewitt.

A couple of cautions marred the early laps.  As the laps wound down, Hines and Schuerenberg battled for the top spot.  The battle was interrupted by caution when Simon slowed on the track.  It would come out again with two laps to go after third place runner Justin Grant had a flat tire.

On the final restart, Hines moved out to the lead, and would stay there  to go flag-to-flag for his 45th career victory.

Tyler Courtney finished second, with Chase Stockon in third, Robert Ballou in fourth, and Schuerenberg in fifth.

The Southern States Midgets Series were also did battle on Saturday night.
Aaron Farney topped qualifying with a 16.003 and won his Heat meaning he needed only to finish second to wrap up the Florida portion of the Bubba Army Winter Nationals championship.

Damon Fortune would jump to the lead while Farney and Ryan Partin gave chase. Farney took the lead for a brief moment but didn’t make it stick until lap eight. On lap 10, Partin would see his night come to an end, bringing out the only caution of the race. Farney took the win and the championship with it. Fortune would wind up second, while Andy Bradley, Darrin Davis, and Partin rounded out the top five.
