That’s because the Fayetteville, Georgia wheelman has been chosen as recipient of the 2012 Georgia Racing Hall of Fame’s Driver of the Year award.
The award honors a current Georgia race driver that puts together a Hall of Fame worthy season on the track. Clanton’s 2012 season is certainly one that puts him in the records books.
First and foremost on the list is Clanton’s victory in the Dirt Late Model Dream race at Eldora Speedway in June, where he beat out John Blankenship and Darrell Lanigan to score a cool $100,000 in one of the biggest Dirt Late Model races of the year.
To date, Clanton has scored several feature victories while touring across the United States, including winning the Wild West tour event at Deer Creek Speedway in Minnesota, the Jimmy Thomas Memorial at East Alabama Motor Speedway, the One Epic Weekend event at Brushcreek Motorsports in Ohio, along with wins at Dixie Speedway in Georgia and Tyler County Speedway in New York.
Clanton currently sits third in the points standings for the World of Outlaws Dirt Late Model tour.

Clanton will be honored as the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame Driver of the Year at the 2012 Georgia Racing Hall of Fame induction banquet, the same night that Pete Hamilton, Bill Ingram, Warren Johnson, Doug Kenimer, and Herman Wise will be inducted as members of the 2012 class of inductees.
The 2012 Georgia Racing Hall of Fame Induction banquet will be held on Oct. 26, 2012 at 6 pm at the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame, located inside the Dawsonville Municipal Complex in Dawsonville, Georgia.
