It was another hot night of racing Saturday night at Hartwell Speedway in Hartwell, Georgia. It didn’t get much hotter than in the Limited Late Model division, where Ila, Georgia driver Brant Carey jumped out to an early lead from the pole position and never look back, picking up the victory. Hometown hero Brandon Haley of Hartwell gave it all he could to catch Carey, but could not close the gap, coming home with a second place effort. Eric Johnson, also of Hartwell, was third with Jimmy Johnson and Stephen Segars rounding out the top five.
In the Crate Late Model division, it was Frankie Beard picking up another win, as he beat out Grant Jordan, Scott Holmes, Ty Lowe and Chris Cape.
Paul Byrum came away with the victory in the Modified Street division, as he topped Tyler Brown, Rusty Jordan, Chad Hoopaugh and Todd Brown.
Michael Segars beat all comers to take the win on the Stock V8 class. Joe Teasley ran second, followed by Ricky Chamberlin, Randy Shaw, Sr. and Corey Price.
Adam Smith came out on top of a huge field of cars to win the Stock Four Cylinder event on Saturday. Mitchell Godfrey, Jimmy Little, Marty Hayes and Ashley Poole rounded out the top five.
In the Young Guns division, Bryce Alewine picked up the victory over Jason Calhoun, Blake Lester, Mitchell Ledford and Bryan Nickerson.
Steven Powell beat out Joel Powell, Sr. for the victory in the Up Front feature. Terry Reed, Ryan Goldsmith and Joey Butler rounded out the top five.
Up next at Hartwell Speedway is something a little different, as the track will hold a special Lawn Mower Race for all spectators in what’s sure to be a night for the Hartwell Speedway history book. There will also be racing in all seven divisions, including Limited Late Model, FASTRAK Late Model, Modified Street, Stock V8, Stock Four Cylinder, Young Guns and Up Front.
