There were hot temperatures and hot speeds at Talladega Short Track in Talladega, AL on Saturday, July 9, as fans were treated to a high speed show on the famed Alabama dirt track.

Jason Wilson had a good night on two fronts.  First, he beat Terry Smith to the checkered flag to pick up his third win of the season in the Kilpatrick Chevrolet Super Late Model division.  Then, when the points were tallied, Wilson found himself trailing points leader Smith by just eight markers.  Ross Martin finished third with Tim Roszell fourth and Tim Busha fifth.

Also making an appearance Saturday was the Georgia Mini Sprints, with Bobby Zaiontz picking up the win, his first of the year for the GMSA.  He was followed by Ron Bishop, Shane Werner, Chris Openshaw and Sam Williams.

In the Crate Late Models, Adam Gauldin picked up the win, moving him to within one point in the points standings of points leader Jimmy Elkins, Jr.  Adam Martin ran second, followed by Mike Combs, Todd Watson and Elkins, Jr.

Joe Noojin made his fourth visit of the season to Talladega Short Track’s victory lane with a win in the Sportsman division.  Bubba Lackey, Jonathan Chapman, Adam Cummings and Dustin Stewart rounded out the top five.

David Conner picked up his first win of 201 in the Open Wheel Modified division, topping points leader Eddie Brannon, Clark Gary, David Griffin and Shane Ferguson.

After knocking on the door several times this season, Chris Yarbrough finally broke into victory lane Saturday, picking up the win in the Thunder 92.7 WTDR Thundercars event.  Zach Shelton ran third, with points leader Scott Magouirk third, Chris Sorenson fourth and Corey Hillman fifth.

Quinton Whooten made his third trip to victory lane in the Dorsey’s Supermarket Hot Shots division, beating out Alvin Gaddy, Dustin Mullinax, Nathan Baker and Josh Childers.

Andy Davis beat all comers in the Farmers Insurance of Oxford Street Stocks to pick up the victory.  He was followed by Phillip Haynes, Bobby Clark, Troy Smith and Billy Richardson.

Up next at Talladega Short Track is the Oxford Lumber / Ace Hardware Night At The Races on Saturday, July 16, featuring racing in all local divisions.  For more info, go to www.talladegashorttrack.com.
