Week 15 of the 2011 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series season saw West Region point leader Jim McDuffie of Meridian, MS take his fifth win of the season on Friday night at Hattiesburg Motorsports Park in Hattiesburg, MS driving the H.E. Mosley, Inc. Trak-Star.  The Friday night race put McDuffie at a 14-week Regional point total at 774 points.

In the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Old Man’s Garage (OMG) East Region, Adam Gauldin of Talladega, AL took his fourth win of the season on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL driving the Adam Gauldin Racing GRT to move to within one point of OMG East Region point leader Jimmy Elkins Jr. of Talladega, AL.

The 2008 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region Champion McDuffie will now begin to net points by replacing his lowest 14-week point total, which is a 40 earned Friday night, with a higher event point total.  McDuffie also earned 25 bonus points for his fourth consecutive week of competing at HMP.  McDuffie has also earned all 100 of his eligible bonus points.

McDuffie holds a 92-point lead over Landon Frith of Terry, MS.  Frith with 682 points, can still earn full points for one more week, and he is still eligible to earn another 25 Regional Bonus Points.  Just 60 points separate second through tenth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region standings.

Randy Boyd of Marion, MS hit the 14-week point total on Saturday night to hold down the third spot with 677 points.  Boyd is still eligible to earn another 25 Regional Bonus Points.  Justin McRee of Tuscaloosa, AL is fourth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region standings with 673 points.  “J-Mac” has another week to earn full points and can grab another 50 Regional Bonus Points.

Bobby Jordan of McCarley, MS hit the 14-week mark during Week 15 competition with 665 points to hold down the fifth spot in the West Region standings and is still eligible to earn another 25 Regional Bonus Points.  Larry Murphy of Meridian, MS is sixth with 660 points.  Murphy has one more week to earn full points, and he can still earn another 25 Regional Bonus Points.

Daniel Bridgeman of Meridian, MS is seventh with 626 points at the 14-week mark, and he can still earn another 25 Regional Bonus points.  Tim Dees of Meridian, MS and Lamar Furr of Hollandale, MS are tied for the eighth spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region standings with 624 points apiece.

Dees has hit the 14-week mark, and can still earn another 25 Regional Bonus points with four races of perfect attendance at a NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region track, or by competing in a NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Touring event.  Furr still has one more week to earn full points before he hits the 14-week maximum, and he can earn another 25 Regional Bonus Points.

Chandler Petty of Austin, AR grabbed his sixth NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region win on Saturday night at Drew County Speedway in Monticello, AR driving the Whistle Stop Barbeque Rocket.  Petty is tenth in the West Region standings with 622 points.  The 15-year-old driver has one more week to earn full points and can earn another 25 Regional Bonus Points.

Petty could be higher in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region point standings, but nine of his 13 week totals have come in 40-point events with seven or less cars.  Fields with eight or more cars are 50-point events.

In other NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region Week 15 action, Shay Knight of Columbus, MS was a first-time winner on July 4 at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS driving the DeSoto Honda Special.  Roger Witt of Batesville, AR drove The Chrome Shop GRT to his sixth win of the season on Friday night at Batesville Motor Speedway in Batesville, AR.

King of Columbus, MS cashed in the $1,000 top prize with his first NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region win of the season on Saturday night at Magnolia Motor Speedway driving the Montgomery Farms Trak-Star.  Friday night action at Malden Speedway in Malden, MO was rained out.

Kevin Maher of McDavid, FL is third in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Old Man’s Garage (OMG) East Region standings with 662 points.  Doug Ludwig of Grantville, GA is fourth with 637 points.  Ludwig did not compete in Week 15 competition, as his home track, New Senoia Raceway in Senoia, GA, was rained out on Saturday night.

Brian Ponder of Talladega, AL is fifth in the NeSmith Chevrolet WRS OMG East Region standings with 612 points, and Mike Combs of Odenville, AL is sixth with 595 points.  Russ Ogletree of Phenix City, AL is seventh with 590 points, and Chris Griffin of Flomaton, AL is eighth with 582 points.  Ken Pate of Pell City, AL is ninth with 506 points and Trey White of Jenkinsburg, GA rounds out the top ten of the OMG East Region standings with 504 points.

Three-time NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufacturers Champion GRT Race Cars of Greenbrier, AR remains on top of the point standings with 41 wins on the season after three Week 15 victories from Witt, Ashley and Gauldin.

The defending and two-time NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufacturers Champion Trak-Star Race Cars built by Boland Performance of Cuba, AL stayed close in the title hunt with four Week 15 wins from McDuffie, Shaw, King and Lucas to bring their second-place season total to 37.
