The newly comprised D0G race team, which consist of car owners Ricky and Revonda Tyner, of Cannon, GA and their driver Chris Cape, of Hartwell, GA, celebrated their first victory Saturday night in the Modified Street division at Hartwell Speedway in Hartwell, GA.
Cape was able to “walk the dog” of sorts, leading flag to flag. And while Cape has won several races in various divisions in the past, this was the first victory of the Tyner’s as car owners.
“I used to race years ago and I wanted to get back into racing but this time I wanted to own a car, so, me, Mark Millford, and Randy Hart built one,” said car owner Ricky Tyner.
When it came to choosing a driver Chris Cape came highly recommended, and while most of his recent experience has been in crate late model division, he had very little adjustment issues fitting into the modified street division.
“I love it, it’s a lot more fun,” said Cape.
Cape, who has always raced under his signature #118, is now sporting a new number and a new red and black color scheme. While most think the car is #0 it is actually D0G in honor of the Georgia Bulldogs, the car itself is still in transition awaiting its new wrap.
Dean Butler finished second, with Chris Jones in third, Rusty Jordan fourth, and Richard Jones in fifth.
In other action, Bubba Russell topped the field to win the Limited Late Model feature. Stephen Segars followed him to the finish line, with Paul Byrum in third, Tony Barrett in fourth, and Brandon Haley in fifth.
In the FASTRAK Late Model feature, Frankie Beard outdistanced Kyre Mullaney for the victory. Eric Veal finished third, while Grant Jordan ran fourth, and Ted Crunkleton finished fifth.
Otis Fleeman scored the win in the Stock V8 feature. Cal Moon finished second, with Michael Segars, Kevin Gooch, and Matthew Denton rounding out the top five.
Chris Wilson was the first to cross the finish line to score the Stock Four Cylinder victory. Cod Byrum finished second, with Dustin Bales third, Rusty Roberts fourth, and Holten Bradshaw fifth.
