Randy Porter Takes His Third Anderson Late Model Win

If there’s anybody who knows how to win in Late Model action at Anderson Motor Speedway in Williamston, SC, it’s Randy Porter.

Porter showed the field how to get it done again Friday night, as he picked up his third Late Model feature of the season.

Porter was the fastest qualifier with a time of 15.477 seconds, but had to start fourth since a four was rolled on the dice which determined the number of cars that would be inverted for the race.

Trace Reeves led the first two laps of the race before Ralph Carnes, Kenneth Headen, and Porter went by him. Carnes appeared to be on his way to his second victory in a row when a caution appeared on lap thirty six.

On the restart, Porter made his move and went by Carnes to take over the lead, which he would hold on to the remainder of the race. Carnes finished second. Headen finished third. Jared Stokes finished fourth. Dale Dove finished fifth.

In other action, Joe Ryan Osborne scored the win in the Legends feature. Osborne jumped to the front at the start of the race and never looked back, pulling away from his nearest competitor every lap to take a comfortable victory . The win was the first career overall Legends for Osborne. Cory Parham held off Rex Brown at the finish line to finish second. Rex Brown finished third, with Gene Traxler fourth, and Casey Traxler fifth.

Chad Campbell claimed the official victory in the B Mini Stock race. Dion Ciccarelli led the first lap but lost the lead to Dylan Hall on lap two. Hall led until lap 15, when Campbell finally got under Hall and took over the lead position. Once out front Campbell pulled to a couple car lengths advantage and went on to take the checkered flag. Hall held off Ciccarelli at the line to finish second. Dion Ciccarelli finished third, with David Darnell fourth and Shane Hall in fifth.

Mark Burdette scored the win in the B-M Modified division. Burdette and Casey Tucker ran side by side the first three laps before Burdette nailed down the top spot. Burdette held the lead until lap nine, when he relinquished the top position to Tucker. Tucker held the lead until lap 11 when Burdette battled back past him. This time Burdette stayed out front, as he led the final four laps and took the checkered flag. Casey Tucker finished second. Austin Northcutt finished third. Newman Presnell finished fourth. Bryce Malcolm finished fifth.

Ricky Burnett came home first in the Renegade feature. Shawn Campbell led every lap of the race and received the checkered flag with Burnett crossing the finish line in the second position. Following the race Burnett protested Campbell but Campbell failed to accept the protest and the official victory was awarded to Burnett. Jack Robertson finished second. Brad Burns finished third. Blake Gregory finished fourth. Doug Miller finished fifth.

Wayne “Big Toe” Cowart was the winner in the Front Wheel Drive feature. Cowart and Chris Harvell battled side by side the first five laps of the race before Harvell took over the lead position and Cowart dropped into the second position. Harvell led until lap nine when he got hung up behind a lapped car and Cowart took over the top spot. Once out front Cowart pulled away and went on to pick up his fourth victory of the season. Chris Harvell finished second, with Tommy Davis, CJ Huitt, and Joey Kelly rounding out the top five.
