Comer, GA’s Bubba “Hog Rocket” Russell celebrated his youngest daughter Vaydee Russell’s first birthday with his third Limited Late Model victory of the 2012 season at Hartwell Speedway in Hartwell, GA.
Russell, who is no stranger to the winner circle, looked like a man on a mission Saturday night as he took the early lead from pole setter Brandon Haley and held it all the way to the checkered flag. After the race Bubba and his daughter Vaydee shared a very special birthday memory in the winner’s circle.
Steve Yarbrough finished second, with Brandon Haley third, Shane Yarbrough in fourth, and Matt Dean in fifth.
In other action, Frankie Beard scored the victory in the FASTRAK Late Model feature, beating out Colby Cannon for the win. Kyre Mullaney finished third, with Larry Timms in fourth, and Grant Jordan in fifth.
In Modified Street action, Paul Byrum was the first to cross the finish line for the victory. Mark Purham ran second, with Richard Jones third, O’Neil Capps fourth, and Greg Scoggins fifth.
John Teasley took top honors in the Stock V8 feature. Otis Fleeman, Justin Mauldin, Joseph Teasley, and Colby Thornton rounded out the top five.
Chris Wilson beat out Cody Byrum to pick up the Stock Four Cylinder feature victory. Jeffery Lord finished third, with Dutin Bales in fourth, and Brad Brown in fifth.
In the Young Guns feature, Drew Collins came home with the win, followed by Travis Hubbard, Michael Ledford, Daniel Ivester, and Adam Partain.
Steven Powell topped the field for the Up Front feature victory. Morris Ledford, James Goodwin, Travis Barbie, and Kevin Cox finished out the top five.
