NASCAR Cup Series ace Kyle Larson scored the biggest win of his career on Saturday night, as he captured the win in the 34th annual Lucas Oil Chili Bowl Nationals at Oklahoma’s Tulsa Expo Raceway.
The win came in the 13th Chili Bowl attempt for the Elk Grove, California native, and one year after a last-lap loss in the annual Midget Car racing event.
Larson, in his ninth A-Feature appearance, trailed the opening 38 laps as Christopher Bell took the lead from the pole.
Larson would keep pace through a pair of cautions, finally using a pass in turns one and two on lap 39 to get alongside. Bell tried to counter, but Larson slammed the door to take the race lead.
Larson held off the charge through two more cautions, but saw Bell close in over the final laps. Bell did not have enough time, as Larson crossed 0.801 seconds ahead of the field.
Cannon McIntosh finished in third, with Logan Seavey in fourth and Rico Abreu in fifth.
Jonathan Beason, Michael Kofoid, Blake Hahn, Ryan Bernal and Tucker Klaasmeyer rounded out the top ten.
The 35th annual Lucas Oil Chili Bowl Nationals will take place January 11-16, 2021. For more information, visit ChiliBowl.com.
