On a special night of giving by the racing community, David McCoy scored the Limited Late Model victory at the 8th annual Pause for the Cause event at Georgia’s Hartwell Speedway.

The annual event raises funds for an area patient battling cancer or related illness. This year’s recipient, 13-year-old Nathan Allen, received almost $7,000 to help him as he undergoes treatments for leukemia.

On the track, McCoy started the Limited Late Model feature on the outside of the front row alongside pole sitter Drew Cole. Cole took the early lead, but lost that lead as the duo raced through lap traffic. Cole would see his night go south when mechanical woes sidelined him.

From there, McCoy powered away from all competition to take the victory. Will Harris followed in second, with Stephen Segars in third.

In other action, Adam Partain added to his Hartwell win total by scoring the Crate Late Model victory. Cody Pritchett followed in second, with David McCoy in third, Danny Sanders in fourth and Frankie Beard in fifth.

Cody Segars held off a hard charging Jimmy Ivester to score the Hobby feature win. Clay Thompson finished in third, with Jessie Ivester fourth and Jeff Sosebee in fifth.

Hoyt Partain slipped past Tanner Nation with half a lap to go in the Young Guns feature, and went on to record the victory. Logan Gunter, Aiden Fortson and Alyssa Goldsmith rounded out the top five.

Tye Nalley edged out Thomas Segars for the Modified Street feature win. Sterling Helm followed in third, with Michael McTier in fourth and Cal Moon in fifth.

Chance Segars took the win in the Stock V8 feature. Rocky Jones finished second, with Jake Jordan third, Eric Dove fourth and Keith Ross fifth.

Scott Hollars was the winner in the Stock Four feature, with Bubba Nation in second, Pete Whitley in third, Dalton Bailey in fourth and Mike Little in fifth.

Alex Powell held off a late challenge from Danny Tollison to win the Front Wheel Drive feature. Jason Richey followed in third, with J.J. Sorrow in fourth and Jessie Smith in fifth.

After being rained out the weekend before, the NVRA Vintage Race cars returned to Hartwell Speedway during Pause for the Cause night. Gary Smith of Athens, Georgia, held off a determined charge from Joe Cobb to score the Skeeter feature win. Mark Jones finished out the podium.

For the Late Models, Eric Rogers took the win over Randy Woodard, with Allen Fortson in third, Ricky Payne in fourth and Daniel Kellum in fifth.

Hartwell Speedway returns to action on Saturday, September 28. Visit Hartwell-Speedway.com for more information.
