Elliott Brayboy finally broke into victory lane at Georgia’s Hartwell Speedway on Saturday night with a win in the Stock Four feature.
The Atlanta, Georgia speedster drove to the lead on the opening lap, and held the point through the rest of the feature en route to the victory at the 3/8-mile clay oval.
Brayboy started the feature on the outside of the front row alongside pole sitter Jon Sanford. With the fight for the lead stacking three wide in turn two, Brayboy shot the gap between Sanford and Jamie Massey to move to the lead as the field filed down the backstretch for the first time.
Brayboy began building an advantage while Massey and Sanford battled for second behind him. Massey saw his night come to an end when he slowed a few laps later in turn four, bringing out the caution.
Back under green, Brayboy powered back to the lead, with Jon Sanford and Kenny Dobbs trailing him. While racing for second, Sanford spun off the front bumper of Dobbs, bringing out the caution.
On the final restart, Brayboy again asserted himself at the front of the field, moving away for the victory. Dustin Bales finished in second, with Bobby Shelton in third, Pete Whitley in fourth and Dobbs in fifth.
In other action, Grant Jordan muscled his way to the lead on the start of the Limited Late Model feature ahead of fast qualifier Jimmy Johnson, and went on to record his second win of the season. Johnson recovered from a spin to finish in second, with Jody Russell in third, Wesley English in fourth and Chris Segars in fifth.
Cody Pritchett powered to the early lead in the Crate Late Model feature, and went on to score the victory over Danny Sanders. Nick Dietz finished third, with Frankie Beard fourth and Adam Partain fifth.
Jimmy Ivester took the win in the Hobby feature. Jesse Ivester, Stephen Segars, Jeremy Mayfield and Ervin Atkinson rounded out the top five.
Sterling Helm and Chad Puckett were battling for the lead in the Modified Street feature when they tangled with the lap car of Brandon Fortson off turn four, with all three ending up hooked up against the front stretch wall.
That handed the lead over to Thomas Segars, who went on to record the win over Smokey Roberts. Josh Thurmond came home in third, with Johnny Pilgrim in fourth and Helm in fifth.
Evan Brown held off Rocky Jones for the win in the Stock V8 feature. Cord Crowe finished in third, with Jake Jordan in fourth and Bradlee Jones in fifth.
Russell Baker had the lead going into the final corner in the Open Wheel Modified feature, but when his car slipped in the turn, Keith Baker charged to the inside, making it a drag race to the flag stand for the win. Keith Baker made it to the finish line first to score the victory.
Hoyt Partain was the winner in the Young Guns feature, with Ryan Baker in second, Tanner Nation in third, Logan Gunter in fourth and Andrew Wilkes in fifth.
J.J. Sorrow edged out Dillon Christian for the Front Wheel Drive feature victory. Kalen Holmes came home in third, with Steven Shedd in fourth and Jesse Smith in fifth.
