Fifty years after its first event, Georgia’s Hartwell Speedway is set to open up its 2019 season this weekend.
The venerable Northeast Georgia 3/8-mile clay raceway is slated to kick off its 50th season with a rare daytime race day on Saturday, March 9.
Track officials are planning for nine divisions of racing this year, including Limited Late Models, Crate Late Models, Hobby 602, Modified Street, Stock V8, Stock Four and Front Wheel Drives, along with two new divisions, Young Guns and Open Wheel Modifieds.
It will mark the first of 28 race dates, running to the first week of October. Hartwell Speedway will see regular division racing each Saturday night. The track’s first points paying event will be on April 6, while a special event featuring Vintage Car racing is slated for April 13.
