Scott Kennedy held off a hard charge from Shun Thomas to score the Hobby feature victory on Saturday night at Georgia’s Hartwell Speedway.

Kennedy, from Canon, Georgia, started on the pole in the feature after winning his heat race. He would jump to the early lead, while two challengers, Ervin Atkinson and Alex Yarbrough, were gathered up in a multi-car tangle in the second turn.

Back under green, Kennedy would move out to the lead. Over the course of the 15-lap feature, Kennedy would come under fire time and again from Thomas. Despite several attempts, Thomas was unable to find a way to take the point, as Kennedy went on to score the win.

Cody Smith finished in third, followed by James Nash in fourth and Joseph “BooMan” Galloway in fifth.

In other action, Bubba Russell powered to the lead on the opening lap of the combined Limited/Crate Late Model feature and went on to record the victory. Ashley Poole finished in second, followed by Dustin Mincey in third, Jessie Ivester in fourth and Will Harris in fifth.

Thomas Segars held off Chase Burdette to score the win in the Modified Street feature. Joe Nash finished in third, followed by Preston Strickland in fourth and Johnny Pilgrim in fifth.

Rocky Jones scored his fifth Stock V8 feature victory of the season after battling with Evan Brown for the win. Brown had to settle for second, with Paul Moore in third, Robert Crowe in fourth and Chance Segars in fifth.

J.J. Garrett had a commanding lead in the Stock Four feature, only to see his race go away with mechanical issues late in the going. That opened the door for Dustin Bales to score the victory, holding off Ryan Boles to take the win. Bubba Nation, Grand Roberts and Scott Hollars rounded out the top five.

North West edged out Kalen Holmes to take home the Front Wheel Drive feature. J.J. Sorrow finished in second, with Alex Powell in fourth and Randy Shaw in fifth.

Hartwell Speedway is scheduled to return to action on Saturday, August 17. For more information, visit Hartwell-Speedway.com.
