Woodrow Mullis dominated Saturday night’s Crate Late Model feature to record his first ever victory at Georgia’s Senoia Raceway.
Mullis jumped out early at the drop of the green and then cruised to the victory over defending division champion Jamie Maurice. Marty Massey finished in third, Colby Darda in fourth and Wayne Harbin in fifth.
In other action, fourth generation driver McKenna Nelms picked up her first career win in the Sportsman Charger feature. The 14-year-old dominated, as she led every lap en route to the victory. Jamie Nicholson, Jr. finished in second, followed by Tanner Collins in third, Shane Payton in fourth and Dave McWilliams in fifth.
Race officials had to intervene to decide the final outcome of the Mini Stock race. Tommy Faulkner caught up to Jamie Nicholson, Sr. in the final turn of the final lap, but Faulkner made contact with the leader exiting the turn. Nicholson spun to the concrete while Faulkner sped past to the checkered flag.
Race Director Chad Herrington made the call to penalize Faulkner for rough driving which placed Nicholson in the top position giving him his first career win at Senoia Raceway. Faulkner ended up second as the leaders had lapped all other cars in the field.
“We do not like to make calls that determine outcomes of races,” explained Herrington. “But, you cannot spin a person out and not be penalized. You have to pass them clean.”
T.J. Sanders slid past defending Hot Shot points champion Nathan Farrow with only a few laps left to win his first race ever at Senoia. Jayce Swint, Jody Dilbeck, and Dean Williams rounded out the top five.
NASCAR Camping World Truck Series regular Austin Hill scored the win in the Legends car feature. Hill has been competing during the past few off weeks for the Truck Series at Senoia to prepare for the upcoming Truck race at Eldora Speedway. Christopher Clanton finished in second, followed by L.J. Klemons in third and Adam Cochran in fourth.
Joey Armistead shot past Jody Knowles on lap 7 of the Limited Late Model feature, and went on to take the victory. Rucker Orr came home in third, with Clint Smith in fourth and Dennis Hale in fifth
