Justin Carroll drove to his third Bojangles Late Model victory of the season in NASCAR Whelen All-American Series action Saturday night at North Carolina’s Hickory Motor Speedway.
Dexter Canipe, Jr., started from the pole after setting fast time in qualifying. Division points leader Ryan Millington started from outside of row one, while Carroll and Mike Darne made up row two.
Canipe would get the early jump and drive to the lead. Carroll would work his way around Millington and keep Canipe in his sights. As the laps clicked off, drivers who were saving their tires for the 100 lap feature would start to make their move while others would begin to fade. Carroll would eventually catch Canipe and make the pass for the top spot.
Charlie Watson would work his way around Canipe as well. Watson would catch up to Carroll, but couldn’t make the move around him. Carroll would go on to the victory, with Watson in second, Darne in third, Jonathan Findley in fourth and Kres VanDyke in fifth.
In other action, Curtis Pardue scored the victory in the 4-Cylinder feature, with Dennis Ward in second, Robert Trivette in third, Cody Combs in fourth and Robbie Lewis in fifth.
Tyler Gregory passed Jeremy Pelfrey with two laps to go and went on to score the Paramount Auto Group Limited Late Model feature win in just his fifth start. Stevie Johns, Jr. finished in third, with Pat Rachels in fourth and Mitch Walker in fifth.
Tyler Dayton took the victory in the One Design Super Trucks feature, with Sheflon Clay in second, Joey Shuryan in third, Allen Huffman in fourth and Charlie Neill in fifth.
Don Machutta was the winner in the Cosmo Motors Street Stock feature, with Marshall Sutton, Trey Buff, Mark Whitten and Kevin Eby rounding out the top five.
Bill Webb took the win in the Catawba Realty and Insurance Classic Sportsmen Racing Series feature. Chris Werner finished in second, with Eddie Gilbert in third, Dennis Hinkle in fourth and Bill Powell in fifth.
