Derek Ellis Drives To Bill Ingram Memorial Win At Dixie

Derek Ellis grabbed the lead from pole sitter Jason Croft early on, and went on to win the 19th Annual Bill Ingram Memorial race Saturday night at Dixie Speedway in Woodstock, Georgia.

The Chatsworth, Georgia driver led flag-to-flag en route to the victory in the event that honors the late Georgia Racing Hall of Fame member.

Ellis also became the fifth different winner of the 2017 season in the Super Late Model class with no repeat winners so far this season.

Croft tried the whole night to gain ground on the leader but was unable to do so other than the restarts after nine cautions in the race. In the end, Croft would have to settle for second.

Ray Cook followed in third, with Dale Thurman in fourth and Brent Dixon in fifth.

Austin Kirkpatrick, Colby Kilgore, Wayne Echols, Kurt English and Jeremy Ledford rounded out the top ten.

In other action, Cass Fowler jumped to the front of the pack and never looked back the get the win in the Steel Head Late Model feature. Jason Smith followed in second with Matt Bishop in third, Scott Hall in fourth and Don Jenkins in fifth.

In the Crate Late Model feature, Matt Black scored his first win of the season, and became the sixth different winner of the season. Hunter Jones held off Logan Palmer for second, while 13-year-old Jake Rainey raced side-by-side with Mike Bruner most of the race getting fourth place with three laps left to go. Bruner followed in fifth.

Jerry Fowler took a huge lead to win the Super Bomber feature ahead of Daniel Brewer, Petey Cochran, Randall Powell and Nick May.

Dan Meadows gained some points on Dalton Polston in a caution filled Economy Bomber feature. Justin Begley was a close second followed by Joe Trantham in third, Matt Thompson in fourth and Randy Ledford in fifth.

The Street Stingers feature would see Chris Bragg, Casey Creighton, and Shawn Harper breakaway from the rest of the field for a three race battle for the top spot. They would finish in that order with Jimmy Tillery and Taylor Simmons completing the top five.
