Glen Luce earned a trip to victory lane the hard way, driving from 29th starting position to victory lane Saturday on PASS North Super Late Model Championship Day at Oxford Plains Speedway in Oxford, Maine.
Luce ran afoul of tech inspectors after a heat race and was forced to the consolation rounds, where he charged from the back of the field to finish fifth. He made most of his progress during a 100-plus lap green flag stretch in the remarkably-competitive race.
Luce took the lead away from Travis Benjamin, who had started from 11th position. From there, Luce went on to score the win, with Benjamin in second and Joey Doiron in third.
Ben Rowe of Turner finished in fourth after a battle for the spot on the final lap with Jeff Taylor, who failed to complete the final lap. Scott Mulkern finished in fifth.
D.J. Shaw finished in sixth, which was enough to secure his second PASS North Super Late Model championship.
Cole Butcher, Derek Griffith, Dave Farrington and Johnny Clark rounded out the top ten.
