Cass Fowler led flag-to-flag to score the Super Late Model victory Saturday night at Dixie Speedway in Woodstock, Georgia.
Jason Croft set fast time in qualifying only to spin a six on the invert wheel, putting Fowler on the pole in a car normally driven by Bobby Tucker. Fowler took the lead at the start and had Shawn Chastain tapping his bumper every step of the way to victory lane.
Behind the leaders, Dale Thurman attempted to hold off a strong Tom Maddox, and did just that until lap 19 when Maddox made his move around for third. Thurman held fourth until the final lap when he was passed by Frank Ingram for fourth.
Chris Fennell took the victory in the Steel Head Late Model feature, holding off last week’s winner Jason Smith in second. Following in third was Phil Coltrane, followed by Scott Hall in fourth and Austin Smith in fifth.
While Justin Shipley is waiting on his Super Late Model engine to get back from the shop, he has been competing in the Crate Late Model division – and nobody will be happier for him to get that engine back than the rest of the Crate Late Model field.
Shipley powered to his second win in as many weeks Saturday night as he grabbed the division’s Championship race victory. Bobby Richey finished in second, followed by Jake Jones in third, Shane Smith in fourth and Logan Palmer in fifth.
Richard Goode took the lead in the Super Bomber feature and was immediately set upon by Daniel Brewer who challenged the leader the entire distance. Finally, using lapped traffic to his advantage, Brewer took the lead as the white flag waved and went on to take the win with Goode in second. Randall Powell, Alan Brewer and Donny Thurman rounded out the top five.
Eric Hamby moved to the lead early on, and drove on to score his fifth Economy Bomber feature victory in a row. Taylor Cole finished in second, with Dalton Polston in third, Landon Bagby in fourth and James Gagnon in fifth.
Michael Karp took his third win in four weeks in the Street Stinger feature as he held off Byron Sisson for the win. Cody Sisson finished in third, followed by Brian Dempsey in fourth and Shawn Harper in fifth.
