Russell Scores ‘Peanut Man’ Memorial Win At Hartwell

Bubba Russell rocketed away from all competition Saturday night at the 3/8 mile Hartwell Speedway in Hartwell, GA.

Russell, known affectionately to his fans as “Hog Rocket”, held off the hottest driver at Hartwell so far this year, Jimmy Johnson, to pick up his second Limited Late Model feature win of the year in the second annual Wendell “Peanut Man” Rousey Memorial.

Johnson, who had come into the night with five feature wins on the season, had to settle for a second place finish behind the Comer, GA speedster.

Keith Freeman rolled home in the third position, with Stephen Segars in fourth and Rex Hall in fifth.

In other action, Bret Hamm outdistanced Brandon Overton for the win in the feature race for the visiting FUEL Late Model Racing Series. Brian Connor finished in third, with Trent Ivey in fourth and Ricky Weeks in fifth.

Larry Timms topped the field for the win in the SECA Late Model feature. Russell Fleeman finished in second, followed by Nick Deitz in third, Ashley Poole in fourth and Danny Sanders in fifth.

Chris McKeehan scored the win in the Hobby Stock feature. Shane Yarborough came home in second, with Ervin Atkinson in third, Mart Patterson in fourth and Rod Roberts in fifth.

In the Modified Street feature, it was Kole Hardy taking home the win, with David Archer, Greg Scoggins, Evan Brown and Jimmy Lee Langley rounding out the top five.

Ricky Mauldin was the winner in the Stock V8 feature, with Terry Brown in second, Heath Cagle in third, and Chasidy Russell in fourth.

Cy Strickland was first across the finish line to win the Stock Four Cylinder feature. Jeremy Hicks finished second, followed by Brent Couch in third, Shane Strickland in fourth and Dustin Bales in fifth.

Jonathan Starrett scored the victory in the Up Front feature, with Jackie Holden second, Wayne Chapman third and Rosie Cook fourth.
