Maddox Takes Dixie Speedway Crate Championship

Tom Maddox jumped out to the early lead in Saturday night’s Crate Late Model Championship race at Dixie Speedway in Woodstock, GA, and drove away to score the victory and the $3,000 payday that went with it.

Maddox took the lead from the start and never looked back. Jeff Smith made his way to second in the closing laps and seemed to be slowly catching the leader, he but ran out of laps and was forced to settle for second. A protest was lodged against Maddox after the race, but he was declared legal. Jimmy Thomas finished in third with Brett Wyatt fourth and Frank Ingram in fifth.

In other action, Jake Knowles made the most of lapped traffic midway through the Super Late Model feature to pass Jason Croft and get his first win at Dixie in the new season. Croft followed several car lengths behind for second, followed by Shane Clanton in third, Shawn Chastain in fouth and Dale Thurman in fifth.

Ronnie Haynes made his way to the front of the Super Bomber feature, and went on to score the win. Daniel Brewer trailed behind in second with Willie Winsome, Terry Vollrath, and Randall Powell rounding out the top five.

Defending Economy Bomber champion Dan Meadows took his first win of the season in the division’s feature. He held Austin Smith in second, with Ryan Ray in third, Eric Hamby in fourth and Landon Bagby in fifth.

Jamie Cross ran side by side with Bo Jordan in the Pony Stock feature before getting the lead for good. Cross would go on to score the victory. Jordan held on to second, with John Land third, and Tim Pope fourth.

Wes Chavez became the first repeat winner of the season as he led the way to the checkered flag in the Cruiser feature. George Wilson finished second, followed by Randy Ledford in third, Billy West in fourth and Jimmy Wilson in fifth.
