WOODSTOCK, GA – Randy Weaver made the trip to Dixie Speedway in Woodstock, GA Saturday night from Crossville, TN for the annual Super Late Model Fall Championships that ends the track’s regular season. It was a dual purpose for Weaver, as he was there for the extra money being paid out as well as getting some track time, in preparation for the upcoming Lucas Oil Series Dixie Shootout on Oct. 4.

He came away with what he needed and more, as he scored the feature victory over Brasstown, NC veteran Ray Cook.

Weaver took the pole in qualifying and started the race along side Cook on the front row. On the drop of the green flag, Weaver jumped out to the lead with Cook and Tom Maddox in pursuit. Weaver gained ground as the race went on with only lapped traffic to slow him down, as Cook and Maddox battled each other for second.

The caution would come out on lap 29 after two cars spun. When the green flag came back out, second place runner Maddox got loose, triggering a melee behind him that took out several cars including Michael Page who had raced his way thru the field getting into the top five. Mario Gresham’s car ended up flipping, but he escaped uninjured.

When racing resumed, Weaver took the lead once again, and went on to score the victory. Cook finished in second, followed by Maddox in third, Donald McIntosh fourth and Shawn Chastain fifth.

Don Jenkins made it three in a row in the Steel Head Late Model feature, taking his seventh win of the season over Randy Dillard in second, Chuck Padgett in third, Scott Hall in fourth and Bob Johnson in fifth.

Craig Reece led the way in the Crate Late Model feature, taking the win over Doug Stevens, with Mark Page, Zach Pilcher and T.J. Brittain rounding out the top five.

Andy Morris was once again in Victory Lane in the Super Bomber feature, taking ten laps to get to the front to score the win. Daniel Brewer finished in second, with Ronnie Haynes third, Robert Elkins fourth and Willie Winsome fifth.

Landon Bagby jumped out front and took charge of the Economy Bomber feature early, leading the rest of the field by a straightaway to the checkered flag. Austin Smith battled side by side with Rob Johnson for second place before finally taking over the spot for good two laps from the end. Johnson settled in third followed by Kyle Beavers in fourth and Dalton Polston in fifth.

Jeremy Millsap continued his dominance of the Pony Stock feature over the last month, as he collected his fourth win in five races. Mitchell Pope ran second, with David Sullins in third, Robert Cole in fourth and Donnie Burns in fifth.

Todd Lankster and Edwin Scott went door to door for several laps in the Cruiser feature before Lankster was able to get around and go on for his 12th win of the season. Scott settled for second ahead of George Wilson in third, Randy Ledford in fourth and Tim Pittman in fifth.

Racing action returns to the legendary Dixie Speedway on Oct. 4 for the $10,000 to win Lucas Oil Dixie Shootout, the final racing event on the track’s 2014 calendar.
