ROME, GA – Don Jenkins outran the oncoming rain and his competitors to score the win in Sunday’s Steel Head Late Model feature at Rome Speedway in Rome, GA on a race night cut short by rain showers.

The Kingston, GA speedster held on for the win, there was bumper to bumper action behind him, as Alan Brewer held off a hard charging Ryan Law for second, while Michael Brewer and Tod Hernandez threaded their way through the wrecks and spins to complete the top five.

In other action, Daniel Brewer got the lead in the Super Bomber feature then lost it to Kenny Taylor. It looked like he might have to settle for second when Taylor suddenly slowed in turn three giving the lead back to Brewer. Brewer then had to hold off Andy Morris to take the checkered flag first. Morris was second, followed by Terry Vollrath in third, Randall Powell in fourth, and John Dunn in fifth.

Dan Meadows held off Benton Morris for the Economy Bomber win that would see several hard crashes during their 15 lap feature. All drivers were uninjured. David Burtz followed in third, with Landon Bagby in fourth and Ryan Ray rounding out the top five.

Travis Smith scored the win in the Pony Stock feature. Following Smith was Matt Smith, Jake Jones, Von Casey, and Jason Lowe.

Rain came in halfway through the evenings events, washing out the Super Late Model, Crate Late Model, and Cruiser features.

All the rained out events will be running double features at Rome’s next event Sunday June 29.
