Cody King helped open the points season at Dixie Speedway in Woodstock, GA Saturday night, as he streaked to his first Super Late Model feature victory on the legendary Georgia 3/8 mile dirt track.

King made his presence known early by on setting fast time in qualifying and taking an immediate lead in the Super Late Model feature. On the drop of the green flag, King jumped out front, leaving Luther Jenkins to give chase for the remainder of the race. Although King was never seriously challenged during the event, Jenkins was able to close the gap once lap traffic came into play. Jenkins however had to settle for second as the laps ran out. T.J. Alford finished in third, followed by Johnny Chastain in fourth and Doug Stevens in fifth.

Mario Gresham held off Chris Fennell for the win in the Steelhead Late Model feature that saw the two cars cross the checkers nose to tail in a close finish. Don Jenkins raced his way to third ahead of Levi Hicks in fourth and Alan Brewer in fifth.

The Crate Late Model feature would see Alabama’s Gathan Burns take home some Georgia money, as he outran Maddie Crane to the checkered flag. Burns crossed the line unchallenged, while Crane had to hold off a hard charging Justin Shipley for second. Craig Reece followed in fourth trailed by Hunter Jones in fifth.

Andy Morris took the quick lead in the Super Bomber class, and would lead the way for the win. Daniel Brewer, Willie Winsome, Richard Bagby and Randall Powell rounded out the top five.

Eric Hamby made his way from sixteenth to first to take the Economy Bomber win from Carl Richards. Dan Meadows followed in third with James Gagnon in fourth and Ryan Ray in fifth.

Shannon Ethridge was once again in victory lane in the Pony Stock feature. Finishing behind were Jake Jones in second, Christopher Etheridge in third, Von Casey in fourth and John Land in fifth.

The Cruiser feature would see Todd Lankster take the checkers as he outran Wesley Chavez, George Wilson, Randy Ledford and John Sexton.

Dixie Speedway returns to action next Saturday, May 10, as the Ray Cook Schaeffer Oils Spring Nationals will be doing battle on the Georgia red clay. For more info, visit dixiespeedway.com.
