Steven Wallace jumped out to the early lead of Saturday night’s Super Late Model feature, and held off a hard charge from Stephen Nasse to score the win in night two of the World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing at New Smyrna Speedway in New Smyrna Beach, FL.
After a four car invert put Wallace on the pole for the feature, he battled with another second generation racer, Ross Kenseth, for the early lead. The caution would on the opening lap, as several cars, including Dawsonville, GA’s Spencer Davis, Cody Coughlin, Joey Miller, and Dave Garbo were caught up in a multi-car crash in turns one and two.
Back under green, Nasse would work his way around Kenseth, then worked to hold off Matt Tifft on a restart for second before giving chase to Wallace for the lead.
The two would battle back and forth through a rash of late race cautions, but in the end, it was Wallace besting Nasse for the win. Kenseth finished in third, with Tifft in fourth and fast qualifier Kyle Benjamin in fifth.
Brandon Booth, Jake Griffin, Anthony Sergi, Joey Mooch and Jeff Schofield rounded out the top 10.
In other action, Brandon Johnson scored the Pro Late Model feature. Daniel Keene, Jr. came across the finish line in second, with Harrison Burton in third, Garrett Jones in fourth and Spencer Davis in fifth.
Ron Silk nabbed the win in the Tour-Type Modified feature. Ryan Preece, Matt Hirschman, Chuck Hossfeld and Jimmy Zacharias rounded out the top five.
In Florida/IMCA Modified action, Todd Stone scored the victory. Tank Tucker finished in second, with Alan Bruns in third, Tim Moore in fourth and Kevin Terry in fifth.
Michael Burns picked up the Pro Truck victory, with Chad Chastain in second, Michael Pilla in third, Dylan Martin in fourth and Dylan Martin in fifth.
