The World Crown 300 – one of the most prestigious short track Super Late Model Stock Car races in the country – will be televised as part of a four-race broadcast schedule at Gresham Motorsports Park in Jefferson, GA in 2014.
The 31st-annual World Crown 300 classic will be run on Saturday, August 9 and will be featured in a two-hour, taped-delayed national broadcast. A pair of 100-lap Pro Late Model events – as well as a 125-lap Southern Super Series Late Model race – will be featured in one-hour tape-delayed television events as part of the package.
“This is really a great day for Gresham Motorsports Park,” stated GMP general manager John Close. “We have one of the newest and most modern motorsports facilities in America and the racing here, especially the World Crown 300, is second to none. To bring the ‘Crown,’ along with our three other premiere Pro and Super Late Model half-mile races, into millions of homes across the country this year will be huge bonus for our fans, racers, marketing partners, and all the communities in Northeast Georgia that surround Gresham Motorsports Park.”
The four Gresham Motorsports Park television events will be aired on a variety of Cable, Broadcast and Satellite networks. Among the media outlets projected to televise the GMP events are MAVTV, Comcast Sports South, TuffTV, DirectTV and DishNetwork.
It is estimated that each of the races will reach 80- to 90-million households across the United States.
“Basically, we’re taking Gresham Motorsports Park nationwide,” Close stated. “Televising our premiere Late Model events is going to put GMP on the map nationwide and expand on the great reputation we already enjoy in the Southeastern part of the country. We want fans everywhere to see what a great facility we have, why we have so many top NASCAR teams come to test here, and why so many great short-trackers want to race here.”
The four telecasts will be produced by Carolinas Production Group out of Charlotte, NC, and will be hosted by veteran motorsports broadcaster Rick Benjamin. NASCAR racing legend Kenny Schrader will provide color commentary for the telecasts.

The World Crown 300 is a legendary stock car event and bringing it to racing fans everywhere via our tape-delayed telecast is a great honor.”
Other races being televised as a part of the package will be the 125-lap Southern Super Series feature on Saturday, July 12, and two GMP Pro Late Model features on May 3 and Sept. 13.
Televising the Pro Late Model events nationally will be a first for the popular stock car division while the two Southern Super Series races (the World Crown 300 is a Southern Super Series points event) will also mark the national television debut for the rapidly growing series that debuted in 2013 with great success.
“We’re expecting a great field of drivers and cars for each of these televised events,” Close stated. “There’s no better way for a driver to showcase their skills – and the sponsors who support them – than racing on national television. It is a great way for drivers to get noticed and to give their marketing partners a huge return on investment. It’s a win-win situation for everyone in the pit area.”
“In the end, the biggest winners will be the fans and we’re expecting great crowds for these races as well,” Close continued. “Our 2014 events are going to be ‘happenings’ with great on- and off-track action and atmosphere. This is going to be big for Gresham Motorsports Park and fans from across the land are going to want to be here to experience it.”
